Regulatory framework
The legislation governing the management of waste from electronic products has developed in the EU in the wake of policies aimed at ensuring the protection of the environment and human health and the preservation of natural resources.
The EU framework establishes with specific directives the measures to be applied for reducing the negative impacts resulting from the management of waste, guiding all actors towards the implementation of processes ensuring its prevention, re-use, recycling and recovery. The European strategy for the management of e-Waste and Packaging Waste is based on the principle of Extended Producer Responsibility, which binds companies producing EEE, Batteries and Packaging to finance the collection, treatment, recovery and disposal of waste resulting from their products.
The European regulations are transposed in Italy through Legislative Decrees and laws implementing the EU Directives. Erion operates in compliance with these regulations.
