Erion was born in a historic moment in which came to life the European Green Deal, a strategic program with which the EU commits itself to reach carbon neutrality by 2050 through sustainable economic growth decoupled from the exploitation of natural resources. The goal is to accelerate the European transition towards a regenerative growth model that gives back to the planet more than it takes, reducing the consumption footprint, the enormous production of waste and the excessive use of virgin raw materials. The strategy focuses on the gradual abandonment of the traditional ‘take-make-dispose’ linear economy,

based on the overuse of resources by industries for manufacturing new products, to arrive at a strong circular economy. The implementation phases of this economic and cultural model are already punctuated by the New Action Plan for the circular economy: a policy document in which the European Commission foresees measures aimed at raising awareness among citizens on the importance of buying durable goods, improving the production processes of companies in terms of sustainability and ensuring the eco-design of products, including EEE, Batteries, Packaging and Textiles products.

Erion is already
inside the change

Erion guarantees in all phases of its work a significant contribution to the European path towards the circular economy. Our system directly avoids any damage to the Planet by annually achieving remarkable environmental results: in 2023 the activity of Erion WEEE Compliance Scheme made it possible to:

Recycle

0

thousand tons of secondary raw materials

Saving

0

million kWh of energy

Avoiding

0

million tons of CO2 equivalent

Erion supports companies with a concrete and constant commitment to research projects designed to develop eco-innovative and circular solutions for business models, production processes and sustainable product design. Erion raises awareness among citizens/consumers on the issues of the circular economy with events, communication campaigns and targeted information projects such as the Italian Atlas of the circular economy and the ‘Erion for You’ digital platform. Erion maintains a dialogue with institutions and stakeholders to help define legislative processes essential for the growth of our sector, such as the implementation of the new circular economy package containing new directives governing the recycling processes of WEEE, WBA and Packaging Waste.

Sustainable Development
Goals

The Green Deal represents the European Union’s response to the global call to action part of the 2030 Agenda signed by 150 world leaders in New York in September 2015, at the end of the United Nations Summit on Sustainable Development. The programmatic document integrates the guidelines of the 2000 Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) by relaunching a new action plan for the achievement (by 2030) of global changes through 17 main Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 169 underlying goals.

The Erion System recognises the social, environmental and economic relevance and importance of each of the 17 goals and the principles therein contained. Erion’s primary mission, focused on waste management and the recycling of raw materials, has led us to identify goals 8, 12 and 13 as the reference ones for our Compliance Schemes. Our ongoing commitment to research, innovation and the circular economy identifies us as the ideal partner for providing companies with suitable tools and methods to support them. We have a clear vision of the path we must take, starting from our three primary goals.

By working towards achieving these 3 primary goals, the Erion System, as a private entity and in a complementary way to the actions of the public sector and citizens, can bring added value to other 3 SDGs: Gender Equality (5) Industry Innovation and Infrastructure (9) and Life on Land (15).

Erion projects
for the circular economy

For Erion, a true circular economy culture arises from the knowledge and participation of citizens in initiatives promoting sustainability. To them are aimed our awareness and information projects developed on digital platforms constantly updated and freely available.

Magazine

EconomiaCircolare.com

In addition, Erion has created Economiacircolare.com, the first Italian online magazine entirely dedicated to the Circular Economy. Promoted by Erion and the Documentation Centre on Environmental Conflicts, the project arose from the desire to offer in a complete, free and multimedia form, contents of analysis, study and dissemination of information on the most important issues related to the world of circularity. Economiacircolare.com is an information tool endorsed by prestigious contributions from scholars, researchers and sector journalists, which aims to become an important discussion forum on the Circular Economy for professionals, policy makers, enterprises, scientists, technicians, eco-activists and citizens.

Erion for you

Erion for You’ is the group’s digital platform designed to involve citizens on the issues of environmental protection, waste recycling and the circular economy. A journey through best practices, news from all over the world, calls to action, infographics on the world of waste, useful information, interactive games, curiosities, ideas to copy and much more.

Italian Atlas of
Circular economy

The Italian Atlas of Circular economy is an interactive web platform which collects and tells the experiences of businesses and associations committed to implementing in Italy the principles of the circular economy. It is an awareness-raising, information and documentation tool aimed at all those who care about the proper balance between economy and ecology and want to approach their consumption in a responsible way. The Atlas’ objectives include building a network of businesses and associations that are able to connect with each other and increase potential synergies and their visibility. The platform currently lists over 300 virtuous stories of the circular economy in Italy. The Erion and the Documentation Centre on Environmental Conflicts project is developed  in partnership with the association A Sud, Banca Etica Group, Eco-systems Foundation, Consorzio Poliedra (Milan Polytechnic) and Associazione Zona.
